as her family & crew left the track in-search of a replacement, a group of racers, led by Kevin Roberts & Tracy Lewis, alternated between making their time-runs and working to remove the offending piece and getting the car ready for the swap
(I helped/got-in-the-way, too, and didn't get many pictures during time-shots today )
When her crew returned, time-trials had concluded, but her fellow racers and the staff at BMP allowed her to make a pair of quick runs before eliminations, to make-sure the car was safe and a non-leaker.
Once the First Round began, Thomas Renick brought-out his C5 for the first time this season, and had the misfortune to face points-leader Craig Gingerich, who mowed-down the tree with a .010 RT to win, Ollie Mader fouled-out against R.J. Gordon, Richard Martell beat Jerry Seward in a battle of C4s, the most-recent winner Kevin Roberts advanced against Chuck Davis' Z06, Larry Beutlich squeaked-out a win over James McHale, Dan Bouldry bested Robin Wahler in a double-breakout match-up, and Swenson's '72 got-by Tracy Lewis
Between rounds, Swenson's team made some tuning-changes to the carb, which resulted in a 13.299-run on her 13.35 dial-in against Gordon, ending her chances of claiming the Points Championship in just her second season:
Bouldry proved his 1st Round .019 RT was no-fluke with a .006 against Martell, Roberts defeated Seward, Lewis ran 111.711 on his 11.70 dial to end Beutlich's day, McHale went into the 3rd round when he beat Davis, and the newly-crowned Points Champ Gingerich bested Wahler's C6.
In the Quarter-Finals, Lewis and Gordon both ran .006-under, with Lewis winning due to a quicker RT, Roberts' steady .04-RT was good-enough to beat McHale's wheel-spinning C6, and Bouldry advanced into the Semis by beating Gingerich, with the knowledge he had the odd-lot bye-run into the Final Round:
in those Semi-Finals, Roberts had his 3rd straight .04 RT in beating Lewis, and Bouldry went .015 on his single.
In the Finals, Kevin Roberts barely fouled, ending his opportunity to win 3 of the last 5 races this season, in handing the victory to Dan Bouldry, who foot-braked his 9-second '68 Corvette to consecutive Reaction Times of .019, .006, .031, and .015 in the previous 4 rounds of competition:
he also set Low ET & Top Speed with his 9.620 @ 140.44 blast in the Finals, and had the best RT of the day in Round #2 at .006, while multi-time Champion Larry Beutlich had the 'nearest-miss' with his -.014 RT in Round #2
