Mean Green takes the win and the points lead in Event 5!

Tracy Lewis presents trophy to "Mean Green"
Saturday June 28, 2003 was the day for the round 5 of 10 for the Eckler's Florida Corvette Challenge held at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton Florida. Despite 3 rain delays the race was concluded. Mean Green, who after the last race was involved in an accident that totaled his Mean Green Corvette, was left no Vette to race today. Enter Bob Mancuso to save the day for Mark. Mancuso stepped up and allowed Mean Green to share his car so he can at least get the staging points. Pretty nice of Bob to do considering he too is in the points chase. "Mean Green" took advantage, the win and the points lead.

In the 5th round final, "Green" was up against, Dan "Fuzzy Dice" Warren. "Green" dialed the car at 13.05 to "Dice"'s 13.75. At the top end it was "Green" with the win capitalizing on a .08 advantage at the tree and "Dice" running under with a 13.735. "Dice", in his first final of the year puts himself in 7th position out of 5th by only 5 points.

Keith Valone was the winner of the Quick ET award running 9.953 in the first round. Norm Goodman was awarded the Top Speed award with 112.57 MPH in the 1st round. The Best reaction time award went to Ken Teague who cut a .505 light. The Best package went to Dan Warren who had a .059 package in the second round cutting a .525 light and a 13.784 on a13.75 dial.

To date, the EFCC has hosted 55 different Corvette drivers thus far this season. If we can get all of these drivers at our events we may be able to use the car count as justification to having the track all to ourselves.

Remember anyone with a Corvette can participate in the Corvette Challenge. The next race in Florida will by Saturday July 26th. Be sure and come out to race or watch at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, FL. Even if you do not know how to, come on down and meet the racers as we will take the time to teach you about drag racing in particular bracket racing. You can get up close to the action at the track.
